Enjoyed this. Thanks for recording it. I don't typically watch videos or listen to any podcasts. I love reading and cussing though. Lauren at my house you are known as the Cussin Lady because when I read your Substack and laugh really loud my husband says what is so funny and I say it is the Cussin Lady. Sometimes I read a little to him. I cried when you read about your visit in Germany just like I cried when I left Independence Hall a few weeks ago. 💙

I was a little scared to have Lauren read the 4th passage, Mary, because when I read it myself I was sobbing. Not like, a tear down my face, like ugly crying. Would've been rough if that had happened today, but I felt pretty sure I could keep it together. So glad you could make it <3

Tickled this is posted cuz I was fucking pissed I had to pick up the hubs in deeply odd Colo Springs.

Got my book ordered finally. Will flog it on Bsky.

So great to see you and hear your voice. Helpful while reading the book! Best to you and Woody!

Such a thoughtful interview. We are an anti-AI household. My kid is 28 and rejects it too. We are writers for fuck’s sake!

My book arrives Tuesday. Can’t wait!

The kids are all right! So glad you enjoyed, Leslie. And truly, I do not understand wanting to call yourself a writer, but also wanting a robot to do "the hard parts"! The hard parts are the best parts. Might have been my favorite moment when we jinxed that line, haha. Thanks for joining!

It was a triple jinx because I was saying it too!

Two of my fave Substack writers in the same place. Lauren looks exactly as I imagined her, down to the blush of pleasure when she listened to Ally’s praise of her work. I would rather see a

conversation like this recorded than to try to interact while it’s ongoing, so thank you for giving us this afterwards. I listened on headphones while I did some housecleaning and bread making, and I imagined myself having a beer with you in a crappy tavern that smelled of old beer and cigs. I bought the book, after circling it for weeks. I can’t wait to read it.

Yay, Ellen! You're going to love it so much! And it's early here for beer, but so what, cheers!

Received my hard copy this morning and I find myself unable to hold back the tears after four paragraphs. Lauren has the unique ability to target emotional heart strings that other authors lack. Thank you in advance for the journey and good luck with your book tour.

So glad I listened to this again. The way you two vibed, and of course I couldn’t stop thinking how perfect Lauren’s hair is for a roadtrip with Woody’s punctuation faces from the backseat. I understand love isn’t fairytale or perfect but I want that for Lauren and her girl to be long haul. We’ve been trusted as readers to know that her life had very few anchors. She has a gift for storytelling and growth from the shittiest stuff.

My preorder is sitting in an Indie bookstore in St Pete waiting for me to brave an extreme Fl. heatwave. I’ll be there early tomorrow morning Many thanks, Ally.

I know you’re going to love the book, Laurie, and I’m so glad you enjoyed the talk. Stay cool literally and figuratively! 😉😎❤️

You’ve done the hard work Lauren. Hope you get a good chance to Netflix & chill with the main squeeze and do dogger stuff cuz you sure as fuck deserve it. Hearing those excerpts reminded me of what I knew: cool writing matters.

Gracias.

Also Lauren come to Oregon, to Powell’s in Portland and Rebel Heart in Jacksonville (southern Oregon) and you can stay in my house in the woods where every day is beautiful.
