I have to drive to DC next week for my friend Jay’s wedding. I asked him the dress code and he said, “Honey, fancy won’t dress up cheap.” So we have a new favorite Jayism. This week’s been a mad scramble to try to finish a few things I committed to, get new tires, haircut, dry cleaner. All that shit. But last night, I went to a book event for a friend, Keri Blakinger.
I needed to be around people, writer type people. And I’m fucking stoked about her book. She writes about prison and addiction and I can’t wait to read this. But watching a book event is a little different these days. Not that I’ve done many, as we’ve discussed—pandemic book, no tour, I’m mad about it. But I like book events when it’s someone I know. It’s fun as hell meeting someone you know from twitter and there’s no crease in the friendship. It just slides right into real life. I love it.
